Music Together

All children are musical! This natural ability grows best in the early years from birth until five, a crucial time in a child's development. Music Together class provides a playful, musically rich and developmentally appropriate setting that helps children develop a love of music as well as the skills they need to participate confidently and joyfully in music making their whole life. Because very young children instinctively respond to and imitate their caregivers, adult participation is a crucial part of the musical environment we create. Adults, with or without a musical background, find that participating is a non-threatening and fun. Parents learn how to play musically with their child and how to understand and enhance music development.

Families, adults and kids alike, rave about the Music Together music collections. The CD you receive in class is of the highest quality, professionally recorded and developed by the Center for Music and Young Children, based on research and years of parent and teacher feedback. This CD includes all the songs for the 10-week semester. In addition to 2 copies of the CD, one for home and one for the car, you receive a songbook, and a guide explaining music development in early childhood.

Dalcroze Eurythmics

Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a unique, exciting, and powerful education in music for children ages 4 and up. Rhythmic movement, active listening, and improvisation unlock creativity, nurture imagination, and open the doors to enriched and enlivened music making. Eurhythmics (literally, good rhythm) emphasizes experiential knowledge before cognition. Musical concepts are explored through social and interactive games that invite the students to trust their ideas, develop their own intuitions and deepen their musical knowledge and understanding - all through the spirit of play!

In a typical Dalcroze class, rhythm games, songs, gesture, and movement will be combined so that the joy of music is experienced as well as understood. The goal of a Dalcroze classroom is not to have a student say, “I know” but to have a student say, “I have experienced!” As a precursor to or in tandem with private music lessons, Dalcroze Eurhythmics will create a platform for accelerated and deep musical learning in all children.

Flatiron Youth Chorale

The Flatiron Youth Chorale is a Louisville choir dedicated to sharing its music with members of the surrounding community. Experience performing with others is essential for the development of a complete musician. Accordingly, the Flatiron Youth Chorale can be an integral and enjoyable part of a child's musical development. During rehearsals, the choir will explore music theory, vocal technique, and social and ensemble behavior. The students will learn the value of sharing their talent with the community, something that we at Dana Vachharajani Music are very passionate about. At least two times in the semester, the chorale will perform for groups such as retirement and senior organizations, schools and area children. The chorale is open to students of all levels, beginner to advanced.
