Reflection Reflection essay Interpersonal communication is the exchange of ideas, feeling and emotions through both non-verbal and verbal messages. For any communication to occur, there must be the message, sender, receiver and feedback. Thus, communication is a complex process which is two way. It is an interactive process. The channel of passing the information is very crucial in the communication process. On the other hand, the virtual world is the computer-based simulated environment. It consists of social media such as Facebook, texting and emailing. Thus, the essay clearly brings out that the virtual world is more beneficial in interpersonal relationship than harmful. The virtual world enables individuals to form and maintain strong interpersonal relationships. It is easier to send instant messages to a person and receive immediate feedback. Hence, through the virtual world enables individual to interact from different places regardless the geographical distance. Virtual works are not limited to location. Communication and exchange of ideas can be done fast and effectively. Through the use of platforms such as Skype, individuals can communicate face-to-face(Bainbridge, 2010). As a result, they can show their expressions and emotions hence enhancing interpersonal communication. Additionally, individuals can express their ideas in basis of similar interests rather than geographical locations. Through the virtual world and individual can get a person who is interested in a certain field. Through that communication flows easily from the sender to the receiver. Virtual world will enable you exchange ideas in that specific field and learn from one another. Virtual world enhances globalization as people spread ideas and innovations to one another through interpersonal communication using the mediums available in the virtual world. Most scientists see it as platform to acquire knowledge(Jain, 2010). They can easily exchange their ideas and build on them as they share the knowledge that they have. Nowadays, the youth cannot avoid the internet. They use the social network to communicate with their friends throughout. It is part of their lives. Through that they obtain instant feedback, and they learn about what is happening in our current society easily. Virtual world enables the youth to have an understanding of what is happening in the world easily. Events are reported immediately they happen hence making the world are informed about what is happening all around the world(Bainbridge, 2010). The global population has turned to the internet as one of the most mediums of obtaining information. Evidently, the virtual world is very useful in settling disputes ones they occur. The parties in question come together and solve their conflicts through the virtual world. The virtual world has also been a useful tool for providing evidence in resolution of conflicts. The emails and the instant messages that are sent act as evidence enough during a conflict resolution (Bainbridge, 2010). Thus, people enhance their relationships using the virtual world. Through conflict resolution, people can learn new ways of solving conflict through the virtual world. Also, virtual world is good for conflict resolution because the parties do not meet physically. Hence, there is no danger involved in conflict resolution. Additionally, virtual world has been seen as an important tool especially for researchers because they can share files and any information they acquire. They do not need to meet face to face so that they can share any information that they have(Jain, 2010). Thus, virtual world is an important tool in ensuring that information is supposed from one party to another effectively. The information is also passed at a fast rate enabling the researchers share information and files at a fast rate. Consequently, the business sector has also expanded as a result of the virtual network. Business can exchange their ideas from one person to another regardless of the geographical boundaries. Some businesses have also created their websites where the consumers can order goods online. The businesses also get feedback from the consumers because they give them a chance to comment on the delivery of goods and services and also comment on the products and how they would want their services improved(Bainbridge, 2010). Although they do not meet with their consumers face to face, they get feedback and ensure that they meet the needs of the consumers. Through interpersonal communication through the virtual world, businesses have increased their profits. Through the virtual world individuals can freely express their ideas. Some people do not have the courage to stand or speak before people. Virtual world gives them the confidence to express their ideas and talk about the world. Though that person may also gain courage when they get positive feedback. As a result, their self-esteem is built, and they may get the courage to stand before the public(Bainbridge, 2010). Through interacting with the virtual world, people also get new ideas and know how to express them better using the ideas they get from the virtual world. It acts as an eye opener to many. Virtual world has also influenced the society at large in areas of how people act, feel and think. The advancement of technology has enabled people believe that they can do something better, and they can walk to greater places. Interpersonal communication is all about creating new relationships, and building on them(Jain, 2010). Through the virtual world, people have created new relationships and they always ensure that they build on them. The virtual world has enabled people to come up with better relationships which have also enabled them to venture in the business sector. Creation of virtual worlds has enabled people to interact with one another both unknown and known in a variety of ways. Importantly, the virtual world is very useful in strengthening the relationships that already exist. For relationships to remain strong, there is a need for communication to ensure that the relationships stay strong. Thus, the virtual world acts as a bridge between the online and offline world. People can still communicate even if they are far from each other. Enhancement of relationship requires communication which is an important aspect in every field. Thus, the virtual world will be an important tool to enhance and strengthen the relationships(Jain, 2010). In conclusion, virtual communication is an important aspect of interpersonal communication. The advancement of technology has facilitated the virtual world, and we cannot avoid it. Adopting it and learning it is an important remedy of ensuring that we maintain our relationship, and we come up with a new relationship with all parts of the world. The world has become a global village, hence communicating with one another regardless of our culture and ethnicity will facilitate the exchange of ideas.
