Case Study: Kerzner Office Equipment Case Study: Kerzner Office Equipment Critique of Briggss management of the first meetingIn my opinion, Briggs lacks the background of planning. She may have never been taught on ways to plan successfully and therefore she doesn’t know how best to plan. Consequently, she will take a lot of time in planning for the project.I think she needs to develop a plan for the project in order to work so hard at achieving it as this will even save more time in the long run.

She also is basing her plans on inferior things and this may make the project fail. She is so much concentrating on issues that won’t help much in the project when she allows people to introduce themselves and joke around with them. All these if they would have been looked at in the first meeting then the meeting would have been meaningful. The barriers likely to encounter in completion of this project by Briggs include:Briggs lacks the background of planning. She may have never been taught on ways to plan successfully and therefore she doesn’t know how best to plan.

As a result, she will take a lot of time in planning for the project and may even run short of time. There may be inadequate commitment. As we can see, she is focusing on the success of the event than planning for it. She fears the events failure as by his words: “If we screw up, everyone will know about it.” This is because she is lacking commitment in the planning for the project. She should therefore develop a plan for the project in order to work so hard at achieving it as this will even save more time in the long run.

Inferior information: She is basing her plans on inferior things and this may make the project fail. She is focusing much on issues that won’t help much in the project when she allows people to introduce themselves and joke around with them. This is totally a waste of time.Theres much concentration on the present at the expense of the future. They are having a budget of $150,000 just for the event. This is a lot of money for such an event as some amount could be used in settling other problems faced by the organization.

This may lead to problems in preparing for the future. They should be future oriented especially when dealing with such issues. There’s too much reliance on the planning team. The team should just be used in aiding the plan for the project, but not to put into practice preparing the plan is still the managers duty and therefore the CEO, Tubbs should contribute much in this preparation. The best way to conquer these difficulties is Briggs to use efficient communication in this planning and this is by avoiding so much joking during the meetings and planning process, obtain valuable information, develop a plan for the project and work hard to achieve it, reduce the cost to an amount that is less but enough for the function and seek the involvement of others and the CEO to be specific (Enrick, 1967).

Briggs should work hard in making the next meeting a success and this is by: ensuring that she developed a plan for the project first, mobilize other co workers and engage them in the preparation for the project and notify people in time about the next meeting. She also needs to plan for a minute of the previous meeting in order to help in the follow up.ReferenceEnrick, N. L. (1967). Management Planning. New York [usw.: McGraw-Hill.
