Assignment Abbas Seyedan Perspectives on Management Styles 2. Objectives The research will identify how business management styles in developed countries are different from one another. It will also consider the various aspects of business environment such as organizational culture, political factors, and socio-economic stability of the specific regions. The study will mainly focus on the business culture of Iran, Japan, and UK to identify the difference in management practices. 3. Literature Review I would rely on four peer reviewed articles which have their major focus on business management in various industries such as hospitals, companies, and non-profit organizations. One article praises the quality of Japan’s management style and sates that British managers are trying to learn from the competitive model of Japanese management style. Another article points out the weak aspects of Iranian hospital management. The article helps us to make a detailed comparison with the hospital industries UK and Japan. The literature also illustrates the various reasons why hospital industries in UK and Japan have better management quality than that of other countries like Iran. The majority of developed countries seek convergence of different management styles which are found successful in practical business operation. The article on Iranian hospital management points out the absence of effective interaction between the managers and other employees. Iranian managers maintain exceedingly distinguished position in the organizations which ultimately will have adverse effect on the interpersonal relationship. On the other hand, the managers of other regions maintain comparatively positive approach to knowledge sharing and collective teamwork. As the article states, there is little distance between managers and other individuals in the British style of organizational management. Instead of personal management, rather broad and collaborative information sharing has become the major facet of modern business management. Therefore, the mode of leadership is a significant factor that determines business success. The quality and effectiveness of workforce is subjected to leadership style. HR management should be the major concern business strategy. Successful companies spend time and effort to develop their managerial functions. Countries like Iran need to heed their genuine concern to research on other organizational cultures and business management styles. 4. References: 1. Rad, M. A. & Yarmohammadian, M. H. The Japanese Style of Production Management — in Britain 4: British Management Style. Research Methodology The first part of the research is to investigate the common theories associated with the organizational management. The theory part will be helpful in order to determine the strategy themes and dimensions which are being implemented by successful organizations. The initial part of the research will include screening and collecting information from sustainable works in the area, mainly the above mentioned articles associated with business management styles. The research will reach results and conclusions on the strategies behind entrepreneurs’ success. These results and conclusions will be examined against theoretical conclusions and relative conducted researches in the field. The research will also identify some future important questions if any in order to have the attention drawn to them for any future possible researches. I would identify the typical aspects of different management styles from the chosen articles to make further comparison with each other. Once the research design is prepared, I would determine the research method. It includes personal interviews, data collection, analysis, and documentation. The customer feedback and data collected will help me to point out the major features of different management styles. New findings will be presented and any gaps between the theory part and the empirical one will be identified and bridged. For instance, from my chosen articles, I can differentiate the major weak and strong aspects of business management practices of different countries like UK, Japan and Iran. This comparison would help me to illustrate solution for economically backward countries to renovate their business management cultures. The research conclusions and the results of the empirical study are expected to be an added value to the related field. The major feature of my research paper I envisage is that it would analyze the current management practices of various countries and would provide a more reliable picture of the most significant management style that developing countries can follow. 6. The management question of research The fact of what strategies the business operators of developed countries adopted in order to turn their intangible ideas into solid and worthy growing business is considered to be an interesting question to be tackled. Therefore I choose and research on the topic that is Organizational Management in Developing Countries. 7. Overall problem Irrespective of the nature of business an entrepreneur should have knowledge about the current international trends in business marketing and HR management. Moreover, managers must be aware of the latest trends and techniques of administration in order to operate a sustainable business. The knowledge area should cover the changing consumer behavior, firm’s trends in natural and technological environment, and management strategies. In this context, the overall problem for the research is about why some countries have competent management styles whereas others do not have a sustainable management culture of their own. 8. Research question The role of motives and personality is believed to be significant particularly when managers launch their organizational decisions. However, it is the management strategies which are thought to be the basic factor of success as far as business growth and development is concerned. The research will highlight the interesting aspect of management success in developed countries and particularly the strategies behind it. The specific question for the research is why particular economies have excellent management models and to what extent those models can be exported to other regions. 9. Data required for answering the question Data required for the successful completion of this research can be collected from Journals, books or websites. I have chosen some journals from my language (Persian) to get more information about management practices in under developed countries. Furthermore, I have access to some latest journals about organizational management style in UK. I will find some web-logs which can provide me with vital information regarding the potential aspects of management strategies in developed countries. I have to find some books from different writers having different perspectives on management theories and practices. 10. The significance of research question The significant point of the research is to identify the accurate issue to be answered. Once the question is determined, it is rather easy to pursue the reasons behind the particular problem. It can be found out by analyzing the available sources or findings of previous researches. The research question must be concise enough and relevant to the context to explore the essential elements of the subject. In other words, broad and vague research question will not bring actual result. The specific question for the research “why particular economies have excellent management models and to what extent those models can be exported to other regions” is potential and concise enough to bring valuable findings to light. 11. Difficulties to carry out this research The initial difficulty I might confront with conducting this research is data collection. It is not easy to get access to reliable sources that discuss the topic of my interest. In addition, the lack of sufficient literature on the subject in my own regional language would be another impediment to the research. Although volumes could be found on business management theories, the absence of unanimous opinion will confuse one to identify the exact mode of operation in different countries. Finally, the collected information has to be analyzed to reach a flawless conclusion within the time constraint. 12. The cause of interest in the research topic Entrepreneurship is a rich subject for academic research that gained notable significance in recent years. I am highly interested in the strategies which were followed by some developed countries’ entrepreneurs in order to drive their business to success. The surveys and reading will focus on dimensions of strategies found in theory and previous academic researches. The empirical study is due to my interest to examine both entrepreneurial success and failure in recent years in different economic environment. 13. Intended results The research is intended to identify the positive aspects that exist in the business field in terms of strategies behind successful entrepreneurs. Based on the regions and industries chosen, the research is expected to disclose the successful strategies that were followed by developed economies. This will help managers of non-developed countries to understand how their strategies flaw and will draw their attention on how to develop their management styles. The conclusions and achieved results of the research will be useful for local governments in terms of reconsidering their business policy. Read More
