?Liberal Democracy Liberal Democracy Introduction Acceptable governance consists of rule of law, efficient institutions of state, unhidden management and accountability of citizen issues, human rights protection and the right intervention of the public in the decision making process regarding their lives and country (Osborne, 2010, p.91). In history, the concept of authenticated and free elections was very strong and it is the reason why most of the dealing conducted on the same idea. As the descriptions and definitions of peacekeeping are immense, similarly there is no single definition of democracy. To sustain democracy, people need democratically elected government. Therefore, elections are mandatory for such people in order to practice democracy. Much analysis of the same democracy involves other factors to name it as the true democracy. Those factors include rule of law, human rights protection, private property protection, individual protection, minority rights protection, segregation of powers of government into different sectors and proper check and balance of delegated authority. In the same light, if a country wants to be called as a democratic government, election is not the only way to achieve it. Democratically elected government is not the only factor that brings the title of democratic power to the country. It has to be the liberal democracy that can delivers the ever lasting peace and sustainability that can only be achieved through authenticated and independent elections. So, in this piece of writing, the word democracy is basically a liberal democracy that is created not just to provide protection to the citizens of the nation from the cruelty of the rulers but also safe guard one segment of the nation from the atrocities of the other segment. This sort of democracy is linked with fundamental human rights, good government policies that have the grip to the influential governing people and rule of law. In actual, the liberal democracy is a type of representative democracy where the elected bodies having the governing and decision making power are worked under the constitution that highlights the freedom of citizen and protection of minorities right in the given state. Discussion Liberal form of democracy has become very much popular all over the world and is the top form of government not just in the western world but also practice in union soviet community. Regardless of the fact that it is spreading at a very fast pace, the democratic system is not completely free from external threatening that has even reached to well developed states. In Russia where the government system is at the top most level, the democratic system still faces the hindrance. In 1989, the constitution development process was not just a domestic affair but reach to an international level with comparative exercise that was not found before the century. The international factor came in the form that various experienced practitioners were allowed to take part in the formation of the constitution from different state and those democratic states who didn’t include them in the process ultimately face the stamp. Constitutional liberation took place after 1989. During that time, democracy was something open and reachable to any individual. As the custom-made format was the most desirable one than the ready to available one, but the consultation could be made from the experienced makers to get the most benefit. Democratic assistance was seen from western nations but some were fearful regarding the outcome stayed away from the point. Non-governmental organization started working to provide the assistance where it was needed including United Nations and many others. American bar association constitute various personals from different segments of society including merchants, lawyers and judges to serve the purpose of composing the constitutional drafts when needed. As the 19th century was the period of Christian missionaries, the 21st century was labeled as the era of constitutional missionaries (Robbers, 2007, p.226). Constitution design was a significant subjected and adopted throughout. If the institutions didn’t accept the idea, it was of no value to the demanded draft. The detailed structure of democracy was seen in 1689, 1789 and 1989. Constitutional ideas were compared with other acceptable ideas and leading professionals and states legalized only those with the most beneficial outcomes and got approval of adoption. After that, the institutions adopted and practiced the legitimate ideas. The development of constitution design was still in the process of fighting against the ideas. The hindrances of the non-availability of new ideas were still present. The repetitions of the same constitutional ideas were taking place in that era and the outcome of regression and dispersion was possible in case of adopting the same ideas. In 1978, Nigeria saw United States but there are other nations wanted to have a system like Switzerland instead of Nigeria, although the crisis of those countries were similar to that of Nigeria than Switzerland. The attraction was due to the success and the success of the nation was due to the adoption of the institutions to counter the problem occurred in the past. The extensively segmented nations should follow the similar immensely segregated nations that worked for eliminating the disputes and made the success instead of following the nations with less segregation. The achievement and maintenance of democracy is rather difficult. The major task of the government is to protect the democracy. The protection of democracy can be take place by proper observation and countering of the major threats to the nation. In recent times, democracy is defined as equal to liberal democracy. The main concept of democracy has faced a shift from the past definitions developed by ancient Greeks in the Athenian democracy political establishment. In contrast to this concept, there is some belief that an association between the democracy and peace might be due to the geographic closeness of the various democracies of west. It might also link with the economic development or the high trading ties between the nations. The relation of peace and democracy in linked with a variable that can be the nearness in the location of the democratic nations. Furthermore, there are some people with the opinion that there cannot be any type of system that can maintain and arrange the nation and the democratic system is not morally perfect. In addition to this, the core of democracy is the concept that if the majority group accepts the decision, the minority is more likely to get harmed. In contrast to this view, the liberal democracy supporters believe that the scrupulous minority are not open to be targeted. On each issue, both minority and majority have noticeably varied responses and there is a less likelihood that majority will consider the contest of minority, lower the risk by becoming the minority part through the democratic judgment. Basically, liberalism is the concept through which government basic responsibility is to give individual protection and protection to human rights. According to liberal viewpoint, the existence of state is not just for the human salvation instead of this; the state develops and sustains the situations where citizens are free to live according to their own ways to lead a happy life within the limits of respecting and accepting the other citizen’s rights. For this concept of liberal democracy, there are some critics having the idea that liberal democracy is not at all democratic or even liberal in the sense that decision making is not serious that can put the welfare of the individual and state at the risk. Evidently, from the political happenings taken place worldwide enhances the urge to give necessary attention to the link between peace, democracy and human rights. Although each factor has gained its individual importance after the World War II, but the link between three of them is still facing a dearth. The obstacles to build a deep link come from the human rights institutions and the traditional state sovereignty. It is vital to note here that democracy and peace are historical social concepts and not perpetual. However, there are many describe war as a consequence of violence. The political personals including scientist and practitioners consider peace and democracy as the real partners. The concept of no war from the democracies is very much there and only non-democracies increase the prospect by raising the military assets. Conclusion To conclude this, a vital thing to discuss here is that although the democratic governments are against the war with one another however, it is not the case with non-democratic states. Consequently, democratic governments are not restrained from entering into war affair with non-democracies. According to Kant’s viewpoint, the development and sustainability of peace and resolving of conflicts among the nations is the feature of developed and stable democracies that are not interested in war affairs and works for the equality, peaceful coexistence and social justice. Indeed, a liberal democracy or any form of democracy is against any type of war and strives to work for the citizen’s welfare. It is the one major reason why the long lasting peace is promoted as it is not only allowed but mandatory to achieve in mature democracies (or those who are working to transform the democracy into a mature one) by putting extra diplomatic and legal pressure to undertake the reforms and promote the human rights protection and equality. In more simple terms, in order to attain the never ending peace, human rights protection and promotion of worldwide democracy is required. Achievement of Global peace is not an easy task. Attainment of peace does not lie in the democracy or liberal democracy but it depends upon the ways to practice democracy by a nation or citizen. References Osborne, S. P. (2010).
