The Art Underground, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in historic Downtown Louisville, offers dance, theatre, music, photography, film and visual arts classes for all ages. In addition to providing high quality arts classes, The Art Underground hosts workshops, art galleries/exhibits and other events, and promotes opportunities for patrons and artists to connect and support a growing arts community in East Boulder County.

The Art Underground has aligned with highly accomplished artists and performers to offer a full complement of classes. Our instructors range from acclaimed Broadway performers to credentialed visual arts teachers and experienced dance and music leaders. Read more about our classes and instructors.

The Arts in Louisville

Downtown Louisville has a long history of supporting the arts, making it the perfect location for our arts network. The Art Underground’s custom studio is located at 901 Front Street near the Steinbaugh Pavilion – complete with dance flooring, mirrors, acoustic balance, and a separate visual arts “create” space. The Art Underground works to provide creative arts opportunities that complement other art offerings available in the Louisville, CO area. We are committed to providing classes and networking services that nurture the stability of the arts and make the arts more accessible to participants, artists, performers and patrons.

The local Louisville area (just east of Boulder and the Rocky Mountains) is rich with talented artists/performers and individuals who appreciate or participate in quality arts classes (dance, theater, visual arts, etc.) and other offerings (galleries, exhibits, etc.). This combination along with the quaint character of Louisville's Historic Downtown creates a unique environment, ideal for promoting an arts hub that serves the needs of the local community.

The Art Underground, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit corporation, began offering classes in September 2007 at its temporary location on Main Street in Downtown Louisville. January 2008 marked the Grand Opening of our new custom studio located at 901 Front Street, one block east of Main Street, in Louisville. The new studio enables us to offer a large variety of classes in three separate custom spaces – one for dancing and performing and the other for hands-on visual arts. We also provide arts information, updates, events and local offerings through a staffed booth and bulletin board postings adjacent to our studio.
